House GOP Brings Transparency To HealthCare Bill Online
merrie
by merrie  11-3-2009    3
The GOP will continue its online push against the bill on Thursday, when Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) will lead a 12-hour online town hall to discuss health care. VIA Representative Bob Latta (Oh.-R) http://latta.amplify.com/ Meanwhile, the Republican caucus is using the social networking site Amplify to highlight portions of the bill with which they take issue. On their page healthcaretruth.amplify.com, Republican users share the actual text of the bill up for discussion and leave a comment. Other users can leave their own comments or share the content using Twitter, Facebook, Digg and other social networking tools. Reps. Boehner, Bob Latta (R-Ohio) and Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) spearheaded the project, and Boehner introduced it to other House Republicans this morning at their weekly members-only meeting. http://rnmc.amplify.com/2009/11/03/house-gop-brings-transparency-to-health-care-reform/

Afghanistan: It's game over, time for America to go.
Spiritualmonkey
by Spiritualmonkey  11-3-2009    1
Karzai is corrupt, has no legitimacy with the Afghan people, and he's effectively the mayor of Kabul. There is no legitimate reason for Americans to keep killing and dying & pouring money we don't have into occupying a country that: A) No-one since Alexander the Great on up through the Soviets were able to subdue B) Really, REALLY hates outsiders and will kill Americans just because they're there. It's over whether we like it or not. Time to come home.

How to get a Google Wave Invite
merrie
by merrie  11-2-2009    1
Invites are being given out in small batches- if someone says they have 1,000 invites, beware! Tips & Warnings * If you get an invitation and go to sign up, and are presented with anything that tries to sell you something, back away as it's probably a scam. * Be careful! As with any big thing, spammers and scammers are trying to take advantage. If in your quest for Google Wave you're asked to scan for viruses or provide financial information, turn around- you're being scammed. 6 Search eBay for an invitation. A few Google Wave invite owners are selling on the site. You can bid, but beware eBay is deleting some of these listings because selling a Google Wave invite is like selling someone else's intellectual property.

People give birth and die on Facebook (internet actually)
arifsali
by arifsali  10-27-2009    1
The thing about Facebook and Twitter is that unlike earlier times on the Internet, these two companies have shaped the perception of people connected to each other more closely than ever before. Everyone is on-line on FB or Twitter or both!. Not that people were not connected earlier via email or email groups (and some exclusively still are), but FB and Twitter are humongous instant messenger type services where everyone perceives as something where you know others are on (email does not give a perception that you are on and individual instant-messenger were always individual). So as Facebook comes up with ideas on what to do with people who are dying on the internet, I think they should also come up with some special arrangements when people are born. I'm not talking about some FB application (I hate them and they are annoying). There is no denying that babies are being born on Facebook every day (it sounds weird but that is a truth).

Obama plays more golf in 9 mos. than Bush did in 3 years
pkronfield
by pkronfield  10-26-2009
The reason I quit golfing was that it takes too long and detracts from other more important things. A round of golf takes nearly 4 hours. Not to mention driving range practice. Looks like Obama has a lot of time on his hands. Too bad our troops are depending on this bum for speedy decisions. The bum must be voting "present" again. Folks, in 2010 vote ALL the bums out of office. And in 2012 vote this bum and all his Mao-loving colleagues out too!

Big Brother Monitoring Your Clipmarks, Blogs, Tweets
blueridge
by blueridge  10-21-2009
"Visible", a very extensive and sophisticated CIA-based monitoring program is in effect watching online forums, blogs, twitters, and likely Clipmarks (where influential clips are easily tabulated). After all, it's all in the public domain, where whatever you post you must own. In-Q-Tel says it wants Visible to keep track of foreign social media, and give spooks “early-warning detection on how issues are playing internationally ,” spokesperson Donald Tighe tells Danger Room.

If you don’t understand why the Real Time Web is huge, you will soon. Thanks to micro-blogging sites like Twitter, a constant stream of human-posted content has infiltrated the Web. This growing infiltration has created a bottoms up approach to content creation that via the progressive support of rapidly developing applications has and will continue to empower every individual to co-create what is deemed as “important” on the Web.
