POPSVatican Condemns Hallowe'en Last year a newspaper controlled by the Italian bishops, Avvenire, called for a boycott of Hallowe'en, calling it a "dangerous celebration of horror and the macabre" which could encourage "pitiless sects without scruples". Earlier this week the Catholic Church in Spain also condemned the growing popularity of Halloween, saying it threatened to overshadow the Christian festival of All Saints' Day. The Bishop of Siguenza-Guadalajara, Jose Sanchez, said there was a risk that Halloween could "replace Christian customs like devotion to saints and praying for the dead."

POPSNo Bundler Left Behind in exchange for pledges to donate $30,400 personally or to bundle $300,000 in contributions ahead of the 2010 midterm elections.” Yup, they’re just haggling over the price. Many Obama bundlers have secured slots on federal advisory panels and commissions. Still more have benefited from the time-honored patronage tradition of rewarding political benefactors with ambassadorships. Clinton did it. Bush did it. And despite all his fantastical, Balloon Boy-level rhetoric of bringing a “new politics” to Washington, Obama’s done it, too. His ambassador to London, Louis Susman, is a Chicago crony with no diplomatic experience who bundled between $200,000 and $500,000 for Team Obama and is known as “The Vacuum Cleaner” for his fundraising prowess. His ambassador to France, entertainment mogul Charlie Rivkin headed up Obama’s California fundraising operations, raking in $500,000 for the campaign and another $300,000 for the inaugural. His ambassador to Spain, Boston money

POPS15 Bogeymen From Around The World There are many theories about the origin of the word “bogeyman.” One is that it devolved from “buggy man,” the driver of the cart picking up corpses during the Black Plague that decimated Europe. As in the United States, the bogeyman may be nothing more clearly defined than a mist or fog, scratching at windows, or he is sometimes thought of as a tall, gaunt, scarecrow-like man.

POPSIt's About Spain Today, Tomorrow....the US? Banks in Spain are manipulating the housing market by artificially shoring up excess demand. Are we to believe that buying 110,000 homes was an investment made for returns? I hope I don't hear a echo of this thinking in the U.S. Sadly, hopes do not dictate reality.

POPSAsylum for those who push GM food and us from them GM food sounds so attractive until you think about this: Is Monsanto, Bayer, or whomever big corp thinking first about 1. their profit; 2. people's health; 3. dangers to the environment; 4. making crops and farmers more susceptible to crop collapse due to unforeseen or unintended consequences. Who did not vote for #1 as their first priority? What works best for profit is to plant all the same crop - right. What works best for a new insect, fungus, or bacteria - humans plant all the same crop.

POPSDem: GOP Wants You To Die Quickly represents a Republican-leaning district around Orlando and was already among the GOP’s top targets for the 2010 elections. Ken Spain, spokesman for the House Republican campaign arm, said Democrats should be "lining up to call on him to apologize." "House Speaker Nancy Pelosi now has an opportunity to condemn the very behavior and tone of this health care debate that she claims will ‘incite violence,’" he said, referring to Democratic concerns that the bitter tone of the health care debate could lead to attacks. But you see it is the Republicans who are ‘demagoging the issue.’ It is Republicans who are ‘using scare tactics.’ By the way, note how in typical fashion the Associated Press uses this outrage to bring up Mr. Wilson’s spontaneous outcry " as if there is a moral equivalency. Republicans are likening Grayson’s remark to South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson’s widely criticized shout of "You lie!" during President Barack Obama’s address

POPSFascism [(fash-iz-uhm)] This small article compares Fascism and Communism. Both terms are being used to describe the current government elected American government by our friends on the right, however neither of these terms actually apply in reality.
