Japan Plans Solar Station in Space
    thisnamecantbetaken

The next step, expected around 2020, would be to launch and test a large flexible photovoltaic structure with 10 megawatt power capacity, to be followed by a 250 megawatt prototype. JAXA says the transmission technology would be safe but concedes it would have to convince the public, which may harbour images of laser beams shooting down from the sky, roasting birds or slicing up aircraft in mid-air.

Is There Global Warming on Other Planets in the Solar System?
    thisnamecantbetaken
    by thisnamecantbetaken  10-19-2009    4
Martian climate is primarily driven by dust and albedo and there is little empirical evidence that Mars is showing long term warming. Neptune's orbit is 164 years so current brightening is a seasonal response (Neptune's southern hemisphere is heading into summer). Triton's warming is due to the moon approaching an extreme southern summer, a season that occurs every few hundred years. Jupiter's storms are fueled by the planet's own internal heat (the sun's energy is 4% the level of solar energy at Earth). When several storms merge into one large storm (eg - Red Spot Jr), the planet loses its ability to mix heat, causing warming at the equator and cooling at the poles.

Saudi Arabia Wants Compensation if Global Warming Bill Passes
    thisnamecantbetaken
    by thisnamecantbetaken  10-18-2009    2
Saudi Arabia, which sits atop the world's largest proven oil reserves, is seeing economic growth slide because of fallout from the global meltdown, but experts still expect the country, flush with cash from oil's earlier price spike last year, to be better able than other nations to cope with the current crisis. Al Sabban accused Western nations of pursuing an agenda against oil producers, under the guise of protecting the planet. “Despite the variability in the region, the current Arab position is mainly focused around protecting the oil trade rather than saving the planet form the adverse impacts of climate change,” said Wael Hmaidan, the executive director of IndyACT.

Nature said in an editorial the proposed indicators were a "creditable attempt" to quantify limits on human use of the planet. However, it noted, for instance, that fertilizers caused pollution yet helped feed millions of people. Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, head of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and a co-author of the study, said there were growing risks of abrupt and possibly irreversible changes. "Since the Industrial Revolution, a new era has arisen, the Anthropocene, in which human actions have become the main driver of global environmental change," they wrote.

Initial results suggest that the biggest cooling would occur in the polar regions, which is consistent with theory, and is exactly the place where cooling is most needed. The big advantages of this scheme are that it uses sea water spray, a naturally occurring substance, and that it can be turned off immediately if there are any undesirable consequences.

Sun Not Responsible For Climate Change
    thisnamecantbetaken
    by thisnamecantbetaken  7-15-2009    3
Professors Peter Adams and Jeff Pierce did a bunch of things that those throwing around the solar excuse didn't: a) They did detailed work analyzing the actual effects of such activity b) They actually understood what such effects would really even be c) They rigorously applied scientific procedures to this research, constructed computer models, and would have reported the results either away d) They spent many, many years earning PhDs in scientific research and the title of "Professor." We have to say, d) is our favorite. "This paper is the final nail in the coffin for people who would like to make the sun responsible for present global warming," Stefan Rahmstorf, a climate scientist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany, told the journal Nature. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/scienceandtechnology/science/sciencenews/3300177/Sun-not-responsible-for-climate-change.html

The Food Crisis Will Be Back

More than 1 billion people, or every one in six, are starving, according to a report issued by the U.N. Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) on June 19. The number of the hungry increased worldwide by about 100 million in 2008 alone, a hike of 11 percent. "The silent hunger crisis...poses a serious risk for world peace and security," said FAO Director General Jacques Diouf. http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2009-07/07/content_11668272.htm Global warming, top soil degradation, and water mis-appropriation can all be linked to the decreases in production that in turn lead to food inflation. One Stanford study stated that rice and corn harvest has decreased 20-40% as global temperatures continue to rise. Lester Brown states that for every degree C the earth warms above normal, production yields decrease by 10%. http://www.examiner.com/x-9508-Honolulu-Environmental-News-Examiner~y2009m7d7-Environmental-factors-to-blame-for-rising-food-crisis

This was really interesting documentary about the chemtrail phenomenon. (It's in 27 parts (!!!), so if the playlist doesn't run on it's own, go to the source) The German Army has admitted to conducting experiments, dispersing material into the atmosphere, so I don't think it's all pure "conspiracy theory". Now WHY they would do that, is another question. Some say it's for HAARP weapons systems, some say it's for weather modification, due to global warming. Whatever the reason, the trails DO look odd in my opinion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiUMfsR28SM

He has labeled a report issued by the IPCC earlier this year as "properly cautious", adding that he believes the report leaves a tone of “we can fix this”, when there is none. He continues and adds that a possibly six to eight billion people will suffer food and water shortages, intolerable climates, and the extinction of entire ecosystems. Global Dimming - 47min:44sec

Healthcare: Free healthcare for everyone! With the doctors we have left, we will need to make sure that we keep as many people alive as possible. Abortion: Not really an option since we lost 2/3 of the world's population. National Security: How about international security. We need to protect our world from any future invasion. There won't be another alien attack under Whitmore's watch. Education: It looks like education is free too. We need all the smart people we can get. Due do the disaster we only have a few college campuses to choose from. We want a President who doesn't believe in red or blue states, but one who believes that we should spend every single dollar on a pending alien attack. He should be a single dad who's sort of kind of looking for a woman. These are the things I need to see in my candidate. :p http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ag44dRO8LEA
