    No, Not Fat-Free, BPA-Free
    Allison Van Dusen
    by Allison Van Dusen  4-17-2008
It's been a day since the US Department of Health and Human Services National Toxicology Program released a draft evaluation of bisphenol A, acknowledging that the chemical may pose a health threat to infants and children. And as the NY Times reported yesterday, the Canadian government is likely about to declare the chemical, commonly used in plastic baby bottles and cans (food and soda), toxic. Not surprisingly, I'm already getting pitches about BPA-free products, which are sure to see a boost in sales in the coming months. As a new mom and a health reporter, I became aware about many researchers' concerns about BPA last year while working on a story. I have to admit that it frightened me. Whatever the truth is about how big a threat BPA poses, I'm guessing few parents want to risk their babies' health while waiting for further study results. These days, a BPA-free label means a whole lot more to me than most nutrition labels.

Maine law on Prescription Data overturned
    pokkets
    by pokkets  12-23-2007
The judgement claimed the first amendment right to free speech to justify the decision. The law had been challenged by companies that collect and sell Medical statistics and details. They claim it will improve treatment facilities, and make drugs cheaper ??? -(and be a fundamental contributor to their means of making a profit. The bottom line. Now you can't tell your doctor anything in confidence. How's that for free speech. It won't be long before the priests and doctors are wired. It would be nice if the Administration was subject to the same scrutiny.

They are still waiting for the first case of human to human transmission, but there is the problem that many of the affected areas are remote, and far from medical facilities, so there can be a gap in communication, and action, and the disease can spread before action is taken. There is also the no-doubt crippling effect of having total populations of poultry destroyed for the sake of containing the disease, when they can be a communities primary source of food and income.

Iran may have no weapons, but Russia has. It is also just about possible to learn how to make nuclear weapons on the net. It also requires an intimate knowledge of the particular discipline, which dictates that the development of Nuclear weapons requires particularly sophisticated technical equipment and procedures if development can even get beyond the first stage. Of course they could buy weapons from the Russians at any time. The Short fuse is in the White House Bunker. Pangenocidal Pyromania One interesting Hypothetical question. If the top 5000 elite businessmen, bankers, politicians and power brokers were trapped in a Bunker, who'd be in charge?

    Boiled peanuts protect against illness
    pokkets
    by pokkets  10-26-2007
Heat and water releases chemicals, that can be destroyed by over cooking. These chemicals-'phytochemicals' while not essential, have antioxidant qualities, that can strengthen, immune, and repair systems. I wonder how peanuts would be boiled in stock, or after a marinating. I might have to make up a few new peanut recipes. Of course there's always Sate- an Asian Peanut and chilli dish-there's a reference under Satay in wikki, but now I know there can be health benefits.

IS MODERN LIFE, ONE BIG SWINDLE?
    thinkingblue
    by thinkingblue  9-1-2007    2
It seems EVERYTHING in our lives spell SWINDLE. From food, to medical care, charities, housing, religion, anything that affects our existence is somehow wrapped or sprinkled with chicanery. I have always believed, when a buck is to be made we all should display caution. Whether it be the tests doctors send you on or the imports coming in from merciless countries, we should all feel apprehension and not just blindly do what the so called benevolent powers tell us to do. In a profit driven society $$$ reins supreme. But it seems of all the ideologies the human race has come up with, capitalism appears to be the only one that can somewhat work with the (although high) lowest of suffering for the people held to such an ideology. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean we should all turn into sheep, following and doing exactly what we are told, without question. Go into this site http://www.whale.to/ for some incite, gaining a little bit of knowledge so you can stave off being someone's pigeon!

I wonder how many pyschiatrists have stressed moments I wonder how they themselves cope with the conditions that they diagnose in others. Also l wonder how many people involved in the development of this tablets feel,It must be depressing work.
