POPSPentagon plans microchips for soldiers brains. Like with 'IBM Verichip' this seems to be an attempt to introduce 'Organic Tracking Cookies'. All they have to do is convince people they are safe, or introduce them in a way that will not bother people (Like when they are unconscious, or offline) Soldiers, maybe, but when they talk about injecting them into trauma victims, they don't mention any approval by patients. Will it be left to the discretion of the treating physician ? Will they be obliged to tell the patient ? Will they consider the ignorance of the patient to be in the best interests of the patient, and the health system. Not long ago these might have seemed stupid questions "What is there to doubt" Surely we can trust the pentagon. They won't need an electoral roll, they'll have a catalog. Whoever gets the contract is going to make a fortune.

POPSTurkey censors Wordpress; blogs can't be accessed When I tried to post a new entry to my blog a few minutes ago, I came across this page. It says: "Access to this site has been suspended in accordance with decision no: 2007/195 of T.C. Fatih 2.Civil Court of First Instance." At first, I thought it was my blog but after trying to access Wordpress.com's main page, I noticed the total Wordpress.com domain was blocked by the authorities. Another ridiculous example of censorship on the Internet content, in Turkey. there are hundred thousands of blogs on Wordpress.com and none can be accessed from Turkey now. This decision of the court is a shame for a country which claims to respect free speech. I protest this unfair blockage on Wordpress and call all the Turkish bloggers to support free speech and to condemn censorship.

POPSGoogle Browser Coming Your Way Soon? I think the most interesting think to note out of this whole article is the fact that Google has regestered the domain name gbrowser.com. While they may just be covering all of their bases I think that this bodes well for a future release of their own browser. I am sure that some of you will see this as another indication that Google is taking over the world, and while that may be true, I am not quite convinced that Google is as evil as some are making them out to be. Or maybe they are taking over Mwahahahah :)

POPS Virtual worlds: The next Facebook? CNN's report on Second Life. The fastest growing "virtual world" has more than 8.5 million users (and counting) while the daily cash traffic is around 1.5 million US dollars. Despite the disadvantages of the summer season and some technical problems about maintenance and scalability, Second Life keeps on growing every day. This autumn, a new "boom" is expected with "voice enabled" SIMs and new "sculpty prims" technology.

POPSIs Forbes acquiring Clipmarks? VentureBeat just ran a story stating that Forbes has acquired Clipmarks. I wanted to quickly fill everyone in on what's going on. First, this article is a bit premature. We have not been acquired by Forbes. However, for the past few months we have been meeting with people at all levels of Forbes and the excitement and support they have shown for what we're creating has been very meaningful to us. As many of you have probably seen already, a number of their writers are already clipping and our technology has been integrated on forbes.com. For quite a while, we have been in talks with various parties about helping to financially support clipmarks. However, we hadn't yet found the right "partner" to help us complete this journey. A partner who fully understands our vision for making news and information more portable and interactive than ever before. Therefore, we just kept looking. Continued...

POPSWhy are intelligent women such fools in love? "Without the engagement of the head and the heart, relationships are not a safe place to be, but the bright woman is headstrong enough to tell herself that she will be able to make this work." In other words, we fall at the first hurdle because we override our gut instinct."

POPSBody language in training your dog. Editing made the thread a bit thin. There is more detail on the page.. I always thought that when I told a dog to stop barking, it just thought I was barking back. I found sometimes if I whisper, they stop barking because they can't hear what I'm saying. The clip is from a site that is "for dog and cat owners who want to get the most out of their relationship with their pet." It's good how pet owners have the same problems, and when they find solutions they are so relieved they want to tell other pet owners how they did it. Knowing 'exactly what they are going through.' Sometimes it's the way we look at the problem, and how easy it is to blame the dog, or cat, when we are the ones who are supposed to be smart. It's amazing how long it can take some dogs to train their people.
