About me
I'm in your face honest and I'll be as provocative as I can to make a point; I'll push the boundaries; I'll make you think . . . I'm a bisexual woman who has loved hard in her life; a wife and a mother, and working woman who hates injustice and strives for compassion. I choose to focus on political and personal transformation by emphasizing practices rather than beliefs. I love people and I love making them laugh. We need more laughter in the world; it makes life bearable.

"The the only real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes."

If I had one wish for myself? I wish I had a Sylvia Plath . . .

"And she and I would sleep on a boat
And swim in the sea without clothes
With rain falling fast on the sea
While she was swimming away, she'd be winking at me
Telling me it would all be okay
Out on the horizon and fading away
And I'd swim to the boat and I'd laugh
I gotta get me a Sylvia Plath
And maybe she'd take me to France
Or maybe to Spain and she'd ask me to dance
In a mansion on the top of a hill
She'd ash on the carpets
And slip me a pill
Then she'd get pretty loaded on gin
And maybe she'd give me a bath
How I wish I had a Sylvia Plath
I wish I had a Sylvia Plath"

"There must be quite a few things a hot bath won't cure, but I don't know many of them"
Sylvia Plath
Why I use Clipmarks
I use CM because it has the potential to become one of the most thought provoking communities on the net. I use CM because I HAVE to speak out for social change and injustice. The potential for freedom of thought is enormous, but sadly undervalued at times.

BLIZZARD UPDATE VANCOUVER
tanyamm
by tanyamm  1-5-2009    4
Chilled Vancouver commuters faced their second day of winter hell today, as an additional cm of the peculiar white stuff fell bringing the lower mainland to its knees and causing millions of dollars worth of damage to the marijuana crops. Scientists suspect that the substance is some form of frozen water particles ans experts from Sask are being flown in. With temps dipping to the almost but not quite near zero mark, Vancouverites were warned to double insulate their lattes before venturing out.

Show Me Your Papers - Nazi Germany in America
thinkingblue
by thinkingblue  12-28-2008    5
Building more jails and prisons, was always an acceptable practice. After all, how can “they” protect “their” citizens from evil criminals? That’s what we were led to believe. Today, prisons are being built strictly for profit, right under our noses, without our knowledge. Each person’s body they imprison will give the state or county an extra amount of money, so of course the objective is to fill these jails to capacity or overcapacity. Isn’t this a nice legal way to obtain revenue even though it smells of Nazi style fascism? It reminds me of the uproar the “Reagan era system”, created by claiming, poor women have babies just to get an increase in their monthly welfare checks. What a stigma that was on mothers living in poverty, standing in line at the bank to cash their monthly living allotment. The shame the government, OUR GOVERNMENT heaped upon such families, simply because they asked for a helping hand from a coldhearted system. (more below) or http://thinkingblue.blogspot.com

False hope syndrome
balthazarus
by balthazarus  12-18-2008    1
"The cure for false hope is to set more reasonable goals and recognize that achieving even modest change will be difficult. And if you are older than 30, remember that your openness to new experiences is slowly declining, so you are better off making a new start today than postponing it until later. Perhaps most important of all, try to appreciate the person that you already are." I cannot disagree more! to be a human means to want the stars, to reach the unknown. yes, in the cost of not being satisfied...

The rioting in Mumbai is equivalent to the protests about Prop 8? I'm surprised Boone didn't mention Hitler. He is one ignorant fundagenital. For those of a certain age, memories of Anita Bryant come to mind. May Mr. Boone be afforded the same level of ridicule that Mrs. Bryant received.

Admirals, generals: Let gays serve openly
ratilfar
by ratilfar  11-18-2008    1
The issue of gays in the military became a flash point early in the Clinton administration as Clinton tried to fulfill a campaign promise to end the military's ban on gays. His efforts created the current compromise policy — ending the ban but prohibiting active-duty service members from openly acknowledging they are gay. But it came at a political cost. The resulting debate divided service members and veterans, put Democrats on the defensive and provided cannon fodder for social conservatives and Republican critics who questioned Clinton's patriotism and standing with the military.

Marriage Equality Begins in Connecticut
Wisco
by Wisco  11-12-2008    7
Behold, America, as society fails to collapse in Connecticut, just as it didn't in Massachusetts. Families are strengthened, not destroyed, churches aren't closing, the devil doesn't rule, and children don't "go gay" in droves. In other words, it's just people getting married. Time to grow the hell up, America.

Does Time really Slow Down in a Crisis?
einbar
by einbar  11-8-2008    7
Eagleman added this illusion "is related to the phenomenon that time seems to speed up as you grow older. When you're a child, you lay down rich memories for all your experiences; when you're older, you've seen it all before and lay down fewer memories. Therefore, when a child looks back at the end of a summer, it seems to have lasted forever; adults think it zoomed by." And though the results of this study can lead towards disorders linked with timing, such as schizophrenia, Eagleman believes "it's really about understanding the virtual reality machinery that we're trapped in,"Our brain constructs this reality for us that, if we look closely, we can find all these strange illusions in. The fact that we're now seeing this with how we perceive time is new."

Spanish queen breaks silence - and upsets gay groups

Although Spain has legalized same-sex marriage a few years ago, their aging monarch has decided she doesn't consider what gays do as marriage. She says it should be called differently. She also says being gay is nothing to celebrate or to be proud of. As one might guess, the gay rights organizations in her country are pissed-off royally.
