About me
Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Excerpt from Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou
Why I use Clipmarks
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Excerpt from I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud by William Wordsworth

Thankfulness Tree
bignosemousie
by bignosemousie  11-4-2009    6
This is the second year we have had a Thankfulness Tree. I have some fake branches that I put in a big vase to hold the leaves. I went to a scrapbooking store and used their die cut machine to make many many leaves from paper. If you buy the paper there, you can use the machines for free. I punched holes in the leaves to hang on the branches without having to mess with string or glue or hangers of any sort. I place the leaves in a bowl with a pen so any guests that come during November can write something they are thankful for on a leaf and hang it up. On Thanksgiving we read the leaves and we give thanks for all the friends and family that have come to our house. Then I put the leaves in a bag and date it so we can read them in future years too. Yesterday, my daughter wrote that she was thankful for "being born" and for "being in this family." I am so thankful for those things too. Go, get your thankfulness on!

Sewing a letter
bignosemousie
by bignosemousie  5-19-2009    7
I love how she created the lined notebook paper. I think a letter sewn on anything would be a precious gift for someone. A pillow case to give them sweet dreams? Inside a shirt to wear close to the heart? A set of plain dinner napkins to tell guests how grateful you are for their friendship and fellowship? Okay, I'm going to learn embroidery this summer. I will!

I'm still in love with embroidery, but haven't started yet (still!). It never occurred to me to hang the pieces in the hoop. How cute. I wonder where I could find vintage wooden hoops? These cuties are from Miniature Rhino on Etsy.

Create Polaroids with Poladroid

by bignosemousie  3-27-2009    2
I'm testing out a new application, Poladroid. Download the app for free and then drag and drop your digital photos. It creates a Polaroid-like image. For the fun factor, it takes awhile for your image to "develop" or you can shake the picture for faster development, just like a real Polaroid. Go here to try it out.

A terrific thing to do on Valentine's Day (or any day). Create a map of your heart, have your child(ren) do it too. Suitable for framing, I think. I know just the place to hang it too.
