SHOCKING NEWS: Obama is not just going to appoint, do favors for, nor listen just to those who agree with him.

Since he seems to admire Abraham Lincoln (and the U.S. Constitution) -- Lincoln was the president most noted for putting people on his cabinet who disagreed with him, even opposed his election.

Why do this? I can only theorize that the times and issues were so critical that people with experience and skills were needed and that just having 'yes men,' around had to be avoided.

Obama, though, like Lincoln, looks like a man who will make his own decisions (I like his AG pick the most...a guy against torture and Gitmo).

After Lieberman was 'forgiven,' I noticed a pretty universal positive reaction to this.

Obama could have started out by punishing people who worked against him -- as usual, I suppose -- but what type of start and image would that be?

Starting out with 'forgiveness,' even to those who worked to elect McCain shows a different image and I think it may prove to have potential great political value.

This way, he gets Lieberman to vote with the Democrats. He holds out the idea to all others that he's willing to work with even enemies.. which may bring him unexpected support, etc.

This has already become quite an interesting 'show' to watch.

But, eventually, with some real chips and cash on the table.
