balthazarus says: "The mouse now faces unprecedented competition. Laptops which make no use of a mouse are an increasingly popular alternative to desktop computers for workers on the move. Apple's popular iPhone and Nintendo's Wii have shown the potential for touchscreens and movement sensors. HP is pushing a mouse-less TouchSmart PC. Microsoft has invested millions of dollars in a coffee table-shaped 'Surface' computer which responds to natural hand gestures, touch and physical objects." And still it has done its job in making computers more accessible... happy birthday I have no qualification as a prognosticator, but I do believe that even if the mouse is supplanted as the dominant input control device after the keyboard, there will always be a place somewhere for their use. Forget that. I just remembered my Syquest drive and that box of floppies sitting in the closet. too right! I traded in my lap top and went back to a desk top, better to see as you get older so the dear old mouse lives on! I have a mini mouse which I use with my Sony Vaio laptop as I much prefer a mouse to the touchpad on a laptop!! So the mouse is here to stay with me. |
