3 Words; Castration Castration Castration Can anyone give me one good reason why repeat sex offenders should not be castrated? Don't need to repeat just cut it off after one, poor poor kids . Don't priests have checks made on them? Are children ever really listened too? still so much to be done to protect the vulnerable. Sadly, abusers don't necessarily need a penis to cause harm to children. My ongoing horror in these cases is at the people who either moved these molesters around from parish to parish, or helped in keeping it quiet. The taking of innocence from a child is truly evil. Doing it again by covering it up is even more unspeakable. Extreme measures - Would these act as a deterrent and prevent future problems of this sort? The subject of this clip is not only a problem in Dublin but here in America and throughout much of the world. Not only the crime is wrong but the cover up of the crime is damn near as bad. These crimes affect the children for a good part of the rest of their lives. I'm sure that anybody that comments on such crimes would like to see a end to them as well as the cover up. What I clipped is a extreme nature to resolve punishment for such crimes and act as a deterrent for people who entertain the thought of committing such crimes. I... I am pro-choice and anti-capital punishment by the way - not an unusual combination. If prevention is what you are talking about, what is wrong with imprisonment? Even if that is not viable there is the option of "chemical castration" where sex drive can be removed through the use of medication. Do you always get pissed off when a couple... Yes, I always get pissed off when people show ignorance about any kind of abuse. Imprisonment....doesn't work. The system is broke. We have murderers running around after being in prison only 7 years. Chemical Castration....doesn't work. Give an alcoholic booze and a pill that will keep him from wanting that booze...You know how hard it is to take that pill. Child Molestation is a disease that re-generates itself. Most male victims grow up to be molesters themselves. All victims suffer the effects of molestation all their lives. We are talking about an epidemic, an epidemic that most people don't want to look at....it makes them uncomfortable. And while they aren't looking, some childs life is being ruined. We are talking about PRIESTS here- they have taken a vow to have nothing to do with sex. A person cannot be watched 24 hrs a day to make sure they take a pill. Physical castration seems logical. They can't control their thoughts how about a lobotomy? Drastic yes, a molesters crime worse. If they really understood the tragic effects of it they would be for taking measures that were really effective against it. I will address the Draconian statement hanged,drawn,and quartered. I say that only to emphasize my feelings about the seriousness of the crime. I in no way would condone such penalties to be fulfilled, even though it would probably act as a good deterrent. I have used that statement several times and it has always been in regards to what I considered heinous crimes such as the abuse of children and rape. Usually these crimes affect the victims throughout the rest of there lives. From hereon out I will refrain from using such terms. @tanyamm - That frontal lobotomy seem like it might be a good Idea and also be a good deterrent as well. We have had some good feedback on the subject and that is one of the good things about clipmarks! Thanks. Celibacy was not part of the original Christian package. How about doing away with it? I think that would solve a lot of problems. I can't see it happening anytime soon Jojor. And of course pedophilia has nothing to do the issue of celibacy. |
